In 1990 the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office started the D.A.R.E. program with just one school (Selma Elementary) and one D.A.R.E. Instructor Sgt. Larry Johnson. The second year, the program grew by adding Daleville Elementary and a second instructor, Officer Jim Rich. Now, seventeen years later, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office D.A.R.E. program is in most county schools and has three instructors. Officers Ray Dudley and Randy Ogle teach D.A.R.E. to fifth grade students in Selma, Daleville, Wes-Del and Cowan Elementary Schools.
