The Delaware County Sheriff's Department Jail Division will serve and protect the citizens of Delaware County, Indiana, by providing care, custody and control of pretrial detainees and post-trial convicted criminal offenders. This shall be accomplished by integrating security procedures and high quality-of-life provisions for inmates in a cost-effective and efficient supervisory manner. When appropriate, the development of facility programs using input from the community and other organizations for guidance and direction will be initiated. The Delaware County Sheriff's Department Jail Division will employ staff and inmate management programs, which define individual responsibilities for which all inmates will be held to a high level of accountability. To ensure professionalism and staff development for all employees, the Delaware County Sheriff's Department Jail Division will provide training and educational opportunities supporting contemporary values in corrections. Additionally, the Jail Division will proactively pursue opportunities to ensure progressive organizational enhancement and development. This continuing operational re-defining will be accomplished through the development and maintenance of a partnership. That partnership will include the community, jail staff and inmates. This partnership will guarantee the most effective utilization of resources and ensure exemplary professional service. Realizing the moralistic obligation to maintain a constitutionally-humane institutional environment, the Sheriff of Delaware County, Indiana, shall continue to strive for the highest degree of professionalism, which is the tradition of the Delaware County Sheriff's Department. |
